To all the Fallen Heroes and all past and present service members who unselfishly served or continue to put themselves in harms way in order that we can be free, Thank You.
A Hancock County Veterans Memorial is being created in the way of a visible and inviting garden/park that will ensure the service of every American Veteran with ties to Hancock County will be remembered in a permanent way. This will be a hallowed ground to show the respect and honor that our Hancock County Veterans deserve.
All gave some... Some gave all
The approximate 285 military personnel that lost their lives in times of war will be documented in a major focal point, but this is not a war memorial. This memorial is for all Hancock County veterans who dedicated a part of their life to serve in the military. Not all veterans came under fire, not all veterans served in time of war. Yet every vet’s service helped keep this country strong, safe and free. They need to be remembered for that.
This Memorial Park will be located in the heart of the Hancock County seat. It cannot be completed without your help. The Memorial Park will contain hundreds of Granite Brick Pavers. Each will bear the names and other information of Veterans with Hancock County ties. An example:
William H Parker
US Army
WW II
We will need major donors, but the base of the fundraising is the sale of these Granite Brick Pavers. If you wish to honor a veteran in your family with a tax deductable purchase of a granite paver we encourage you to do so. That is the purpose of this Memorial Park. All veterans should be remembered in this memorial.
